Program Description

1. Program Introduction

Editor Notes: The program requires students to understand the basic contents of the subject and its importance.

  • It is required to pass the examinations of all courses respectively.
  • The institutions shall meticulously organize the reasonable arrangement of the internship. 
  • The duration of the internship is one year (at least 48 weeks).
  • The Chinese language shall be a compulsory course during the whole undergraduate medical program in English for international students in China.

2. Program Structure

Editor Notes: The whole program includes 3 main courses.

2.1 The curriculum planning shall include the following three parts:

(1)

Chinese culture and natural science courses, including an overview of China's culture Chinese language
Chinese medical terminology mathematics physics
chemistry biology physical education

(2)

Basic medical sciences behavioral science
humanities social science and medical ethics
preventive medicine and clinical medicine  

(3) Internship. The institutions shall meticulously organize the reasonable arrangement of the internship. The duration of the internship is one year (at least 48 weeks).

3. Degree Awarded

Editor Notes: International medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the UJS.

​MBBS Degree: 

  • Students should firstly complete the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully.
  • International medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the UJS, if they meet the degree regulations of the university. 
  • The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).​

4. Internship and Career

Editor Notes: Students can choose to do internship in China, their home country or any other country.

  • The internship lasts for 1 year (at least 48 weeks).
  • If students do internship in China, they must pass the HSK 6 and the university will help arrange the internship in the affiliated hospitals.
  • Applicats can choose to live in the school dormitory or rent a house near the hospitals.
  • After the internship, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation in UJS before graduation.
  • After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council.
  • Students may need to do the degree accreditation first. 
  • A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. 
  • One can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master’s degree.​

6. School of Clinical Medicine

Editor Notes: School of Clinical Medicine has undertaken rapid development, since the beginning of this century.

  • The school has conducted research and academic exchanges with University of Montreal, Canada, the medical school of the University of Hong Kong, and other institutions. 
  • In the past few years, the employment rates of the students graduated are above 97% and the employers, winning high praise.
  • Graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.
  • It is made up of a Research Center, a Teaching Experimental Center and 8 departments. 
  • It sets 11 provincial key disciplines and 5 national key construction disciplines. 
  • There are over 300 professors and associate professors, 6 PhD supervisors and 128 master’s supervisors.

Entry Requirements

Non-Chinese citizens who are physically and mentally healthy, possess a strong academic background, willingly to comply with Chinese laws and university regulations, and respect the customs and habits of the Chinese people are eligible to apply.
 
Applicants should have completed high school or possess equivalent qualifications. They must hold a valid passport. 18 to 25 years old. Applicants under 18 years of age should provide a guaranty from a guardian. Applicants who were previously Chinese citizens and have subsequently acquired foreign nationality shall meet the requirements in the relevant regulations of China's Ministry of Education.
 
Applicants for programs taught in English must provide IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo or other English Test scores. IELTS scores should be above 5.5, TOEFL scores should be above 80, Duolingo scores should be above 100,EF SET should be above 70.

*1. English language proficiency certificate (non-English speaking countries)

Applicants for programs taught in English must provide copies of their IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo English Test scores. IELTS scores should be above 5.5, TOEFL scores should be above 80, or Duolingo scores should be above 85.

2. Passport

-A clear, full-color scan of your passport information page, showing your name, passport number, expiration date, and photo.
-Some universities may also require blank visa pages, so you are advised to upload a few blank pages as well.

3. Photo

-A recent passport-sized ID photo (2 x 2 inches) with a plain white background.
-Full face visible, no headwear (except for religious reasons).
-Taken within the last 6 months.

4. Highest Degree Graduation Certificate

-A formal graduation certificate of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree).
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.

5. Highest Degree Academic Transcripts

-Formal academic transcripts of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree), covering ALL academic years, NOT just the final year.
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.

7. Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate For Chinese Medium Programs

-For Bachelor’s degree programs taught in Chinese, HSK Level 4 or above with a minimum score of 180 is usually required.
-For Master’s degree programs, HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above is generally required. A few universities may require HSK Level 6.
-Higher scores and levels are preferred.

*8. Passport

A scanned copy of the passport's main page (valid until after September 30, 2024). Applicants with previous experiences in China should provide scans of all documents related to Chinese visas and residence permits.

9. English Language Proficiency Certificate For English Medium Programs

-IELTS (6.0 or above) or TOEFL iBT (90 or above) is generally preferred.
-If you are unable to provide these test results, you may submit alternative proof, such as a Duolingo English Test score or an official English proficiency certificate issued by your previous school/university, stating that the medium of instruction was English.
-Higher scores are preferred.

10. Non-criminal Record Certificate

-Please note that this document is generally valid for only 6 months(Few may require 3 months). For instance, if you submit your application in March, your non-criminal record must have been issued no earlier than September of the previous year.
-Obtain this certificate from the local police station of your current residence, confirming that you have had no criminal record during the 6 months prior to the date of issuance.
-If you are currently in China, the certificate must be issued by the local Chinese police.
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated and notarized by an authorized agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.

*11. High School Diploma

The original or notarized copy of the high school diploma. Current high school graduates should provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their schools. Upon registration, the official high school diploma must be submitted.

12. Physical Examination Form

-Download the form template, print it, and bring it to a hospital for the required medical tests. The hospital will complete the form with your results.
-The medical examination must cover all items listed on the form.
-Ensure your photo is attached and the form is stamped and signed by the hospital after the examination.
-The medical results are valid for 6 months only, and few universities will require the report you did within the past 3 months.
-Forms that are incomplete, lack a final physician’s suggestion, missing the attending physician’s signature, official hospital stamp, or applicant’s sealed photo or contain abnormal examination results will be considered invalid.
-The document must be in English or Chinese.

*13. High School Transcripts

The original or notarized copy of all high school course transcripts.

*14. A Non-objection Transfer Certificate(无异议转学证明)

Issued by your previous Chinese university. This document should include your personal information, academic performance (including attendance), estimated graduation date, and your current university’s approval of your transfer application. It must also contain the university’s contact information (email and phone), issue date, and official stamp.

*15. Scanned copies of all passport pages with entry and exit stamps for China

*16. Scanned copies of all visa pages (X1, X2, T, or others) and residence permit pages (if applicable)

*17. Personal Statement

A self-statement of intent for studying in China (no less than 800 words), written in either Chinese or English. The content should include personal educational and work experiences, motivations for studying in China, reasons for selecting the specific major, and post-graduation personal development plans.

18. A Recommendation Letter From Previous Chinese University

Some universities may also request a recommendation letter from your previous university or other supporting documents.

*19. Non-criminal Record within 3 months

Applicants without a criminal record certificate may submit proof of good conduct during their time in school (only for current high school graduates).

*20. Physical Examination Form

-Download the form template, print it, and bring it to a hospital for the required medical tests. The hospital will complete the form with your results.
-The medical examination must cover all items listed on the form.
-Ensure your photo is attached and the form is stamped and signed by the hospital after the examination.
-The medical results are valid for 6 months only.

*21. Notarized Guardian’s Letter of Commitment

-Students under 18 must find a Chinese guardian who resides in the same city as the university you are applying to, and complete the notarization process as guided in our tutorial video.
-Upload a scanned copy of the notarized Guardian’s Letter of Commitment. This document must be certified in your home country and notarized in China.
-Please note that a Notarization of Declaration (声明公证) issued in China is eventually required.
-A scanned copy is acceptable at the initial stage. If the university later requires the original document or additional materials, we will inform you.

*22. Financial Statement

Either the family deposit certificate, property certificate or parent/guardian income certificate with a recommended minimum value of $5,000 USD or equivalent.

*23. CSCA Test Transcript(s)

-You need to take the official CSCA test organized by the Chinese government and submit the corresponding subject result transcript(s) when applying. Learn more about the CSCA test >>
-The test covers Chinese (Humanities and STEM Chinese), Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Mathematics is required for all programs, while other subjects depend on the university’s specific requirements.
