Program Description
Brief Introduction
With remarkable expansion of the number of foreign students coming to the university, GDUT provides a wide range of Chinese language programs on various levels of learning and training.
Students are expected to improve Chinese proficiency at the end of each program with a closer look into the tradition and custom, to communicate with native Chinese, and to obtain sufficient skills and knowledge in the areas of HSK Tests. In addition, special-designed course work tailored to the needs of certain students may also be provided and arranged.
Teaching Objective
To acquaint students with the essentials of Chinese language, including consonants, vowels, intonation, pronunciation, Chinese character writing, commonly used vocabulary and basic grammar.
To develop student's ability in listening, speaking, writing and translating, and prepare students both linguistically and culturally for daily contact with Chinese people. To promote the ability to successfully pass the HSK Test.Courses and Candidates
Class Candidates Compulsory Courses Elective Courses Elementary Chinese(1) for beginners Basic Chinese intensive reading; Chinese listening comprehension for beginners; basic Chinese reading; Chinese Characters; Basic oral Chinese, etc. Chinese Painting, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese folk songs and music, Martial Arts, Chinese History and Geography, Survey of China, Computerized Information Processing, Cantonese, etc. Elementary Chinese(2) for students who have studied Chinese language for 4-6 months, or as an equivalent to HSK Grade 2; Intermediate Chinese(1) for students who have studied Chinese language for 10-12 months, or as an equivalent to HSK Grade 3; Intermediate Chinese intensive reading, Intermediate Chinese extensive reading, Intermediate spoken Chinese, basic Chinese writing. Chinese grammar, etc. Intermediate Chinese(2) for students who have studied Chinese language for 16-18 months, or as an equivalent to HSK Grade 4; Advanced Chinese(1) for students who have studied Chinese language for 2 years, or as an equivalent to the level of HSK Grade 5;
Advanced Chinese (1) is equivalent to the level of the third academic year of a four year study.Advanced Chinese, Audio-Visual Chinese, Advanced Chinese extensive reading, Survey of China, An Introduction to Chinese culture, Business Chinese, etc. Advanced Chinese(2) for students who have studied Chinese language for 2 years, or as an equivalent to the level of HSK Grade 6;
Advanced Chinese (1) is equivalent to the level of the fourth academic year of a four year study.Class Time
Morning:8:30-12:00, Afternoon:13:30-16:30(Monday-Friday).Notes:
1) The long-term class students should attend a class-dividing test. We have examinations twice a semester, and the test result will decide which class you are in.
2) If students complete their lessons within the period of study, certificate will be granted.
3) Students have the right to choose the classes and courses according to their own interest and language levels.
4) Notes For students who applied within one month or after the starting date:
-If you are a beginner, you may need to wait until the university gets enough students to open a beginner class(there will be uncertainties).
-If you have learned Chinese before, you might be able to come to China and study with the current class directly.
-If you want one-semester program only but are only able to come to China when there is a very short time left, you are advised to switch to 1 1-year program. If you insist on only want one-semester program and are ok with just learn for the remaining time, it is also ok. -

*1. Passport
-A clear, full-color scan of your passport information page, showing your name, passport number, expiration date, and photo.
-Some universities may also require blank visa pages, so you are advised to upload a few blank pages as well.*2. Photo
-A recent passport-sized ID photo (2 x 2 inches) with a plain white background.
-Full face visible, no headwear (except for religious reasons).
-Taken within the last 6 months.3. Highest Degree Graduation Certificate
-A formal graduation certificate of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree).
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.4. Highest Degree Academic Transcripts
-Formal academic transcripts of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree), covering ALL academic years, NOT just the final year.
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.5. Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate For Chinese Medium Programs
-For Bachelor’s degree programs taught in Chinese, HSK Level 4 or above with a minimum score of 180 is usually required.
-For Master’s degree programs, HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above is generally required. A few universities may require HSK Level 6.
-Higher scores and levels are preferred.6. English Language Proficiency Certificate For English Medium Programs
-IELTS (6.0 or above) or TOEFL iBT (90 or above) is generally preferred.
-If you are unable to provide these test results, you may submit alternative proof, such as a Duolingo English Test score or an official English proficiency certificate issued by your previous school/university, stating that the medium of instruction was English.
-Higher scores are preferred.7. Non-criminal Record Certificate
-Please note that this document is generally valid for only 6 months(Few may require 3 months). For instance, if you submit your application in March, your non-criminal record must have been issued no earlier than September of the previous year.
-Obtain this certificate from the local police station of your current residence, confirming that you have had no criminal record during the 6 months prior to the date of issuance.
-If you are currently in China, the certificate must be issued by the local Chinese police.
-If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated and notarized by an authorized agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.8. Physical Examination Form
-Download the form template, print it, and bring it to a hospital for the required medical tests. The hospital will complete the form with your results.
-The medical examination must cover all items listed on the form.
-Ensure your photo is attached and the form is stamped and signed by the hospital after the examination.
-The medical results are valid for 6 months only, and few universities will require the report you did within the past 3 months.
-Forms that are incomplete, lack a final physician’s suggestion, missing the attending physician’s signature, official hospital stamp, or applicant’s sealed photo or contain abnormal examination results will be considered invalid.
-The document must be in English or Chinese.*9. A Non-objection Transfer Certificate(无异议转学证明)
Issued by your previous Chinese university. This document should include your personal information, academic performance (including attendance), estimated graduation date, and your current university’s approval of your transfer application. It must also contain the university’s contact information (email and phone), issue date, and official stamp.

12. A Recommendation Letter From Previous Chinese University
Some universities may also request a recommendation letter from your previous university or other supporting documents.

*16. Notarized Guardian’s Letter of Commitment
-Students under 18 must find a Chinese guardian who resides in the same city as the university you are applying to, and complete the notarization process as guided in our tutorial video.
-Upload a scanned copy of the notarized Guardian’s Letter of Commitment. This document must be certified in your home country and notarized in China.
-Please note that a Notarization of Declaration (声明公证) issued in China is eventually required.
-A scanned copy is acceptable at the initial stage. If the university later requires the original document or additional materials, we will inform you.
-For some universities accept Beijing citizens as guardian, guardian services are available on CUCAS. Learn more here.*17. Non-criminal Record Certificate
-Please note that this document is valid for only 3 months. For instance, if you submit your -application in April, your non-criminal record must have been issued no earlier than January.
-Obtain a police clearance certificate from the local police station where you currently reside, confirming no criminal record in the past 6 months at the time of application.
-You need to translated it into CHINESE if it is not in Chinese; Then you need to get it notarized by local notary office and then get it certified by local Chinese embassy; If your country has joined the HAGUE convention then just do the Chinese translation and Apostille; Then you may need to mail original copy of non-criminal record and translation & certified(or Apostille) documents to the university in China.
-If you are currently in China, the certificate must be issued by the local Chinese police.*18. Physical Examination Form
